Selective Cutting

Most hardwoods are mature at 50-70cm diameter and could be harvested at this size. Selective harvest leaves a sufficient number of mature trees to protect younger trees and provide seed for future crops. Woodlots harvested with improvement and select harvesting principals will be left in dramatically better condition when completed than a minimum legal bylaw cut. Selling logs by size and grade (scaled) most often brings owners more money than by selling without classification by the lot.
